About Fox Class

Fox class welcome you to their page and hope you enjoy looking at some of their exciting activities in the photo gallery at the bottom of this page.

Fox Class is made up of students with similar personal, social, sensory and communication needs. The group works with the National Curriculum and The Adult Core curriculum as relevant to age and stage. Students’ interests and areas of curiosity are explored and incorporated into learning pathways as appropriate.

The class environment is designed to minimise distractions and encompass visual structured teaching strategies alongside social communication and emotional regulation understanding. It includes learning zones, a dark zone, a soft zone, safe space, and garden area which support students to calm, lower anxiety, and be effectively supported throughout their day. Social and functional communication skills are developed, as well as emotional and sensory regulation through functional provisions and holistic therapies.

High staff/student ratio enables personalisation and appropriate support levels.

Each student accesses an individualised timetable through a range of teaching strategies to enable the most effective and motivational learning sessions: this includes visual schedules and work systems which incorporate objects of reference, photographs or TOBIs (True object based images), situational cues and personalised and accessible visual tools. Symbols or written instructions are used alongside gestures and signalong to support expressive and receptive communication.

As each student’s key skills develop, they become more active and independent learners who enjoy achieving within set tasks involving relevant functional and social skills.
