School Meals

School Lunch

School lunch is provided by outside caterers based at Earl Mortimer College, ordered in advance using order forms provided. Children are able to bring packed lunches which are eaten with their peers in the hall or class.

Healthy lunchboxes are encouraged. Lunchtime is organised in two sittings to reduce waiting time and possible sensory overload; our youngest pupils eat in their classroom environment.

As part of the food technology and independent living skills curriculum, older pupils may sometimes cook their own lunch or purchase meals from other establishments.  Details of this will be provided by the class teacher when the scheme is in operation.

Applications for free school meals, based on household income, are handled by the Local Authority: application forms are now electronic:

If you would prefer a paper application, please contact the school office. Even if your child prefers to eat a packed lunch, it is advisable to apply for this entitlement for statistical purposes and additional school funding.
